Drugs, strippers and guns, oh my! As a 420 gift to her fans, Rihanna dropped the very raunchy, very violent — and very NSFW — music video for her track “Needed Me” on Wednesday, April 20.
The Harmony Korine-directed clip highlighted Bad Gal RiRi’s penchant for pushing the envelope. In the same vein of Korine’s controversial teen dramas, 1995’s cult classic Kids and 2012’s mainstream hit Spring Breakers, the visual for “Needed Me” shows the “Good Girl Gone Bad” songstress, 28, engaging in dangerous behavior.
The stunning video opens with a shot of the Barbadian-born beauty, her breasts visible beneath her sheer robe, lighting up a joint inside her seaside mansion. Next, the singer goes on a quest to find her ex-lover — who, as it turns out, is hiding out in a strip club making it rain on scantily clad dancers.
Upon sight of a nearly naked woman slow-mo booty shaking on her man, a revenge-seeking Rihanna whips out a pistol and … well, you can guess what happens next.
“Didn’t they tell you that I was a savage?” the unapologetic pop star coos in the tune. “F–k your white horse and a carriage.”
“Needed Me” is the latest single off of Rihanna’s eighth studio album, ANTI. Prior to this release, the singer debuted equally racy videos for the songs “Kiss It Better,” “Bitch Better Have My Money” and “Work,” featuring Drake.
