September 2024 · 3 minute read

Friends’s reunion at HBO Max, also known as “The One Where They Got Back Together”, has announced an airdate and an official line-up of celebrity guests joining the six original cast members.

The reunion will see Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer returning for a special episode. They will be joined by some old and new friends, but some fans have spotted a few big absentees.

‘Friends’ Reunion Have A Huge Celebrity Line-up

After being postponed in March 2020 days before filming due to the pandemic, the reunion finally started shooting in March this year and will debut on the streamer on May 27.

The six actors will appear as themselves on the beloved Stage 24 where all ten seasons of the show were filmed between 1994 and 2004.

Alongside the six Friends, the reunion will see celebrities of the likes of Justin Bieber, Cara Delevingne, and David Beckham step into Monica’s apartment.

South Korean band BTS will also appear, together with Lady Gaga, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Mindy Kaling, Malala Yousafzai, and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.

A few familiar faces will make their comeback, too. Tom Selleck, who played Monica’s boyfriend Richard, as well as Maggie Wheeler, famous for portraying Chandler’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Janice, will star.

Guest stars Elliot Gould, Christina Pickles, Thomas Lennon, James Michael Tyler will all return to discuss the show. Reese Witherspoon, who played Rachel’s little sister Jill on two episodes, will also grace the screen.

'Friends' Fans Are Asking Where Paul Rudd Is Ahead Of Reunion

Fans, however, have been asking where some original cast members are. While Witherspoon is returning as one of the Green sisters, some are wondering what happened to Christina Applegate, who played Amy Green on Friends. The actress is likely busy with the filming of the third season of Dead To Me, set to debut on Netflix this year.

Some have noticed that Riverdale star Cole Sprouse, who portrayed Ross’s son Ben, is missing from the line-up.

"No Cole Sprouse???" one fan commented on Instagram.

But the biggest absentee of them all seems to be Paul Rudd. The Ant-Man actor starred on the NBC sitcom as Mike Hannigan, Phoebe’s love interest in season nine and ten.

"Where's Paul Rudd?" someone else asked, adding a crying emoji for good measure.

Several fans, however, pointed out that this special episode doesn't need anyone other than the six original Friends.

"Friends reunion really don't even need all these celebs for it to be good!! We just want to see the main cast again," was one comment.
