Clare Crawley’s Bachelorette season – or should we say, half season – had plenty of ups and downs. The reality star abandoned her season mid-way after claiming she’d already found love with one of the contestants, Dale Moss. She was replaced by Tayshia Adams, and quickly got engaged.
However, Dale and Clare broke up within a few months, which she says she was blindsided by. Now, Clare is opening up about how her mental health was impacted by going on the show.
Clare Was In Her “Darkest Place” After The Show
Clare received a lot of online criticism during and after her time on the Bachelorette. Many fans felt she didn’t give the other contestants a chance and latched on to Dale too quickly.
Her stress levels were compounded after her engagement to Dale was called off. “I was in one of the darkest lowest place[s] in my life after the show for sure. For awhile [sic],” Clare explained during a Q&A on her Instagram Story on Tuesday.
She added, “I also have a lot of PTSD from so many things that I have not shared publicly as well.”
Clare’s comments were in response to a question that asked, “Do you regret being the bachelorette?” to which she said she’s not letting the negative experience hold her back.
“I refuse to not let anything get the best of me and keep me down,” she wrote. “I have sourced strength from the most challenging things in my life, and because of that I live with no regrets.”
Clare Doesn’t Regret Bachelorette, But She Does Regret The Relationship
Clare may not regret appearing on The Bachelorette, but she has admitted to wishing things had gone differently with her ex.
The couple had a tumultuous relationship from the start. As per PEOPLE, though they exited the show as an engaged couple, they broke up for the first time only two weeks later. They went on to rekindle their romance but broke up within a year.
"My biggest regret is trusting the process, trusting a man — a man's words and who he showed me he was," she said in October 2021, a month after their break-up, while appearing on Jana Kramer’s podcast Whine Down.
"I don't think that that's a regret, like, I trusted somebody, I believed somebody that they were who they said they were or that they would hold up to the promises that they make when they get down on one knee,” she continued.
