Chris Cuomo isn’t relenting in his fight against his former employer CNN, and is reportedly demanding “Megyn Kelly money.” The former Cuomo Prime Time anchor is allegedly demanding a $60 million settlement, for more than the $18 million that he had left on his contract.
Sources tell Page Six that the embattled anchor will fight for “every dollar left on his contract” as well as additional income he would have earned from the “20 years left in his career.”
CNN boss Jeff Zucker fired Cuomo in November after reports surfaced that he was helping his brother, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, develop a media strategy to deal with sexual harassment allegations that had surfaced against him.
Zucker resigned last week after it came to light that he was having an affair with a fellow network executive.
A source claims that Zucker not only knew about all of Cuomo’s dealings with his brother but also personally made sure that the former governor appeared on his brother's show. The ex-governor was reportedly “chastised” if he dared to appear on rival networks.
“Chris insists he never did anything for his brother Andrew that Zucker didn’t know about,” the source said.
Cuomo reportedly believes that WarnerMedia forced Zucker out because they "found something in their investigation” and probably revealed “more about Zucker’s involvement with Andrew Cuomo.” Cuomo allegedly believes that Zucker’s affair was just a convenient truth and that it was an open secret at CNN that nobody cared about.
It looks like Cuomo might have a case because the sources allege that Zucker knew what was happening, and Zucker was the one who denied Cuomo a severance package. Last week rumors surfaced that Zucker was forced out of the company so the network owners wouldn't have to pay Cuomo the remainder of his contract.
“Chris intends to fight for every dollar on his contract, and loss of income from the 15 to 20 years left in his career, had Zucker not orchestrated a ‘f–k-job’ on him. He could ask for as much as $80 million, but CNN isn’t going to pay that. But there’s an argument he could ask for as much as $60 million,” a person close to the matter disclosed to Page Six.
