After eight years in the White House, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are now enjoying some much-deserved fun in the sun with two vacations!
Following President Donald Trump‘s inauguration on Friday, Jan. 20, Barack, 55, and Michelle, 53, jetted off to Palm Springs, CA with their two daughters, Malia, 18, and Sasha, 15.
During their family vacation, the Obamas stayed in a stunning, 11,000-square-foot stucco home with a resort-like pool and impressive views of Southern California.

Days later, Barack and Michelle traveled to their friend Richard Branson‘s private island in the British Virgin Islands without their girls for a 10-day trip.

On his website, Richard — British billionaire founder of the Virgin Group — explained he invited the former First Couple to visit his Necker Island estate to take a “complete break” after Barack’s presidency.
In the few photos snapped of Barack and Michelle in the British Virgin Islands, the former POUTS can be seen sporting shorts, flip-flops, and a backward baseball cap. The former FLOTUS was spotted wearing a cute cover-up, sunglasses and a chic fedora hat.
Richard additionally chronicled his fun watersports challenge with Barack during their vacation on his website. “One of the first stories Barack told me when he and Michelle arrived on Moskito Island was how, just before he became President, he had been surfing on a dangerous break in Hawaii,” he wrote.
“The new head of his security team turned to him and said: ‘This will be the last time you surf for eight years,'” Richard continued. “So we decided to set up a friendly challenge: could Barack learn to kitesurf before I learned to foilboard? We agreed to have a final day battle to see who could stay up the longest.”

“We were neck and neck until the last run on the last day, when I got up on the foilboard and screamed along for over 50 meters, three feet above the water,” Richard continued. “I was feeling very pleased with myself, only to look over and see Barack go 100 meters on his kiteboard!”
After 10 relaxing days away, Barack and Michelle returned to Washington D.C. on Thursday, Feb. 2 to settle into their new, $4.3 million home.
